Group Buyer role overview

People HQ is recruiting a Group Buyer for a newly created senior role within a leading packaging business in Northern Ireland.

The opportunity

You will own the group purchasing strategy, identify cost efficiencies and build strong supplier relationships that protect margin, quality and on-time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver group purchasing strategies.
• Lead high-value negotiations and manage key supplier relationships.
• Oversee bulk purchasing and monitor market trends and price movements.
• Complete cost analysis, benchmarking and supply-risk reviews.
• Set and track procurement KPIs.
• Align demand, inventory and purchasing activity with business requirements.
• Support quality standards and resolve supplier or purchase-order issues.

About you

• At least five years of relevant procurement or buying experience, ideally in FMCG or packaging.
• Strong strategic purchasing, negotiation and commercial skills.
• Confident senior stakeholder and team leadership experience.
• Good analytical skills, including cost modelling and forecasting.
• Assertive, organised and commercially sharp, with the flexibility to travel to UK sites.
• A degree or relevant professional qualification is preferred.
